The less conditions you carry , the less knowledge you carry, the more simple and humble you are, the easier it is to remember who you are, because it does not take knowledge to know that you are consciousness, that you are awareness, it simply takes consciousness and awareness.
Anthony Paul Moo-Young, known as Mooji, was born on 29 January 1954 in
Port Antonio, Jamaica. In 1969, he moved to the UK and lived in Brixton, London.
Anthony worked in London’s ‘West End’ as a street portrait artist for many
years, then as a painter and a stained glass artist, and later as a teacher at
Brixton College. For a long time, he was well known as Tony Moo, but is now
affectionately known as Mooji by the many seekers and friends who visited
him.
Mooji is a direct disciple of Sri Harilal Poonja, the renowned advaita
master, or Papaji, as his followers call him. In 1987, a chance meeting with a
Christian mystic was to be a life-changing encounter for Mooji. It brought him,
through prayer, into the direct experience of the Divine within. Within a short
period, he experienced a radical shift in consciousness so profound that
outwardly, he seemed, to many who knew him, to be an entirely different person.
As his spiritual consciousness awakened, a deep inner transformation began
which unfolded in the form of many miraculous experiences and mystical
insights. He felt a strong wind of change blowing through his life which
brought with it a deep urge to surrender completely to divine will. Shortly
after, he stopped teaching, left his home and began a life of quiet simplicity
and surrender to the will of God as it manifested spontaneously within him. A
great peace entered his being, and has remained ever since.
when you are sitting inside your own Heart-Self.
When you become empty of identity,
you meet all as the Buddha.
~ Mooji
A few quotes by Mooji ..
No thought has any power. You have power. And when you identify and
believe in the thought you give power to the thought.
If you do not trust life to unfold, the mind takes over and it
becomes a game of strategy, motivated by anxiety. This mistrust is unfair. Life
has given us so much, and yet we do not trust it.
Don't remind the world that it is sick and troubled. Remind it that
it is beautiful and free.
The greatest healing would be to wake up from what we are not.
At the end of the day, you can have something in your head,
something in your hand, or something in your heart. What are you choosing?
Who reminds you to breathe and to beat your heart? Something is
there, taking care...
Go beyond everything. Don't collect anything.
A king does not need to go shopping in his own kingdom. Nor does he
beg.
Remember, you are the inner reality-pure
awareness only.
Thoughts are like people moving around in the market place. Thoughts are
everywhere and when we give our attention to thoughts, when our consciousness
looks at thoughts, which are everywhere to be seen, which are all around us, we
experience thinking.
This way we can free ourselves from the prison that we are in but yet don't
know we are in. Humanity is enslaved thanks to the mind. Not just because the
mind exists, but because of the believes that we carry in the mind, which are
believes that keep us limited. We believe things that are not truly true, and
this keeps us in a kind of prison.
When we are born in a body, we are free and we are just consciousness, purely
conscious. As we grow, all the information that is already here in the world is
ingested into our mind. As we continue to grow, and as all this information
continues to grow in our mind, we start to forget that we are just pure
consciousness. By the time we are teenagers, and by the time we start to become
adults, we have totally forgotten that we are just consciousness and we live
our lives in a little box because we limit ourselves with the believes that are
inevitably conditioned upon us. We believe that we are this body and we are not
this body. When I say we, I am talking about the consciousness, the pure
consciousness.
And the problem is not only that we believe we are this body, but we grow the habit
to think compulsively.
Anything in this world can become a habit, and for the majority of humanity ,
thinking has become a habit.
So what happens?
The pure consciousness that you are is never pure, is never silent, is never
fully conscious because first of all, we are taught to believe that we are the
body-mind, and second of all, we grow the habit to always think by always
having to judge ourselves to see if what we are doing is right or
wrong, to see if we are to be punished or if we are to be rewarded. And this
supports and strengthens the believe that we are the thinker, that we are the
body.
When we don't allow spaces of no-thought, of no-thinking, we forget that we are
an empty sky.
I don’t ask you to
do any prayers, sing any mantras,
or climb any holy mountains.
Just hold on to this question:
“Can the observer be observed?”.

Mooji Now ..
Since 1999, Mooji has been sharing satsang in the form of spontaneous
encounters, retreats, satsang intensives and one-to-one meetings with the many
seekers who visit him, from all parts of the world, in search of the direct
experience of truth. Few amongst the modern teachers of the advaita tradition
expound the ‘knowledge of Self’, and the method of self-enquiry, with such
dazzling clarity, love and authority. There is an energy that radiates from
Mooji’s presence, a kind of impersonal intimacy, full of love, joy and a
curious mix of playfulness and authority. His style is direct, clear,
compassionate and often humorous. Once caught in the grip of his questions,
there seems to be no place to hide. So unsparing is his scrutiny and
uncompromising stance, that the ‘I’ concept is inescapably exposed as a mental
construction, when viewed from the formless awareness we are.
Mooji has travelled to Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden, North America,
Argentina, Brasil, UK, Ireland, Portugal, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, and India,
conducting Satsang meetings, Intensives and Retreats. He is ever open to
meeting sincere seekers of truth, whatever their background.
Poems by Mooji
Beloved
All that you perceive is transient, is passing
But you are the unchanging one
Timeless and perfect
Rid yourself from all delusions
And come lay down here in the silence of Being
For unlike time, you are not passing
You are the formless within all forms
The silence and stillness inside all movements
of time and manifestation
Arise into the fullness of your real nature
As the unchanging Self
The goal and source of all being
When we look with the ‘I’
We dream.
When we look for the ‘I’
We awaken.
All that you perceive is transient, is passing
But you are the unchanging one
Timeless and perfect
Rid yourself from all delusions
And come lay down here in the silence of Being
For unlike time, you are not passing
You are the formless within all forms
The silence and stillness inside all movements
of time and manifestation
Arise into the fullness of your real nature
As the unchanging Self
The goal and source of all being
When we look with the ‘I’
We dream.
When we look for the ‘I’
We awaken.
Something inside is delighted
to be reminded – you are nobody
The mind in the form of the ‘I’ concept
has hidden your original peace, Joy and Love
and is now promising to show you how to find
them.
My love, leave behind all this fruitless
thinking
And come lay down here in the silence of Being.
Water has no shape, its nature is to flow. If
you put it into a vase it will take the shape of the vase. In this cup, it has
assumed the shape of the cup. If poured into my cupped hands it will take the
shape of the hands. But water has no shape. It is the same with the
consciousness, which is subtler than water. It similarly has no form, but it
assumes the form of whatever concept it is poured into or identifies with, but
it will never be the form.
It remains ever its formless nature.
Go beyond everything. Don’t collect anything. A king does not need to go
shopping in his own kingdom. Nor does he beg. Remember, you are the Inner
reality~pure awareness only. All that arises are appearances in consciousness.
Don’t bother with all that. Rest only as the awareness. This is the secret.
A little taste of his poetry
Your life is unfolding naturally.
Your life is unfolding naturally.
Leave it be! It does not need any help.
Stay as neutral awareness.
You never have to prove your own worth,
for you are already complete within
as the beloved child of the Divine. Be happy.
Joy and peace are not found without.
They are discovered within, as your own
inherent nature.
When the various rivers flow into the great
Ocean
They lose their individual names and become
Ocean only.
When the raindrop is falling towards the Ocean,
It may experience some fear.
But when it touches the Ocean, can it tell the story
Of this meeting?
The mind is restless with the urge to accomplish or become. You cannot
reach or become beingness, for beingness is already what you are. Rest in that
as that. Enjoy and be fulfilled in this knowing. This is real knowledge,
satisfaction and contentment.
Only now Is, and you are that. Stay as that.
There cannot be any memory in now; for memory is past- not now.
There cannot be a history of now- for now is fresh;
it has no fragrance, and no ‘one’ to smell it. Stay as now beyond any
concept of now, and any concept of staying.
…such is the nature of all thoughts and sensations, they come and go.
Your previous problems seemed equally as pressing and important in their time
as your current problem now does, but they are no more, absent from the present
by the force of nature. If such is the nature of thoughts and feelings, surely
your present difficulties share the same destiny. Why worry about it? All these
movements are witnessed in you and by you as pure awareness. Stay as That!
Attempting to identify with the source
is an idea. You are already that.
Something brought you here.
Something inside is delighted
to be reminded – you are nobody
People stay living in a little room when they can be living in a huge palace.

Thank the great Spirit within for all
That life brings. All is a gift; the sweet
As well as the bitter. All is for your
Growth, freedom and celebration.
Be happy. This is
blessedness
When you affirm your own rightness in the
universe,
then you co-operate and communicate with others
easily
and spontaneously as part of your own nature.
You, being yourself, unknowingly inspire others
to be themselves.
Because you recognize and are confirmed in your
real nature,
you will not need to dominate others, nor
cringe before them.
This is compassion.
Mind is the ‘Opium’ of the beingness.
If you want to make God laugh
Just tell Him about your plans!
Forgiveness, openness and understanding
Flow naturally where there is compassion.
…such is the nature of all thoughts and sensations, they come and go.

Any
judgement is a form of thought.
Those thoughts that are not being watched are keeping us from going deeper into life.
These unobserved thoughts are keeping us trapped in the mind.
So if you ever ask yourself the question, what is life?
Those thoughts that are not being watched are keeping us from going deeper into life.
These unobserved thoughts are keeping us trapped in the mind.
So if you ever ask yourself the question, what is life?
What is my purpose in life?
What should I do?
What should I not do?
If you are not out of the mind, you will not get the true answer because the
mind is limited to these questions.
The
mind will only give you that which has already been given. It will not give you
originality.

Musings of Mooji
Being here really is just the invitation to rest as
Being. There is nothing you have to do. It is not an invitation to become. You
will not be scrutinized, your actions compared with those of others. That’s
just unicorn food. Let your river flow as it pleases. Simply observe and
recognise that all is unfolding spontaneously when that inner journalist- the
ego, is exposed as a myth.
The mind in the form of the ‘I’ concept
has hidden your original peace, Joy and Love
and is now promising to show you how to find them.
